When the trial ends or the bill is unpaid

Who this is for. Any signed-in user.

Watch it

10 seconds, narrated, captions on. Sample shop. Made-up names and tickets.

What the clip says

This shop's trial ended, so every page bounces here. The owner sees Pay and reopen; anyone else is told to ask the owner.

Once a shop’s subscription dies, every shop route sends whoever is signed in to one screen at /renew. The headline names the exact reason, and only the shop owner can do anything about it from there.

Steps

  1. Read the headline for what happened: “Your free trial has ended.” for a shop still on its free trial, “Your last payment did not go through.” for a shop that is past due, “Your subscription was canceled.” for a canceled shop, or “This shop is closed.” for a closed one.
  2. The shop owner sees “Pay $40 a month to reopen the counter. Your tickets, customers, and machines are all still here.” with a Pay and reopen button, and “Or email support@reedport.com.” underneath if that doesn’t work.
The renew screen as the shop owner sees it, with the Your free trial has ended headline and the Pay and reopen button. Sample shop. Made-up names and tickets.
  3. Anyone else sees only “Ask the shop owner to reopen the counter.” There is nothing for them to click.
The renew screen as anyone else sees it, with only Ask the shop owner to reopen the counter and no button. Sample shop. Made-up names and tickets.

What happens to money and stock

Nothing moves in the counter. Paying is the same Stripe checkout as Add a card and start paying.

Watch out for

  • The shop owner sees Pay and reopen; anyone else only sees a message to ask the owner.
