# Keyboard-first tips

Chapter: Running a ticket
Who this is for: Counter, shop owner.
Trigger: Wanting to run the daily path without leaving the keyboard.

## What the clip says

A few keys move you through the daily path without the mouse. F5 jumps into the search box on any list. F8 always goes to Tickets, from any screen. On a ticket, F5 opens the full part lookup. F4 opens Finish when the job is done.

A counter person can punch a name, Enter into the customer, F2 or F3 into a ticket type, punch parts and labor by
typing, and F4 to Finish. The mouse comes out only for the choices that are genuinely modal.

## Steps

- **F8** goes to Tickets. **Shift+F8** goes to Customers, from any shop-floor screen.

- On a customer's page, **F2** starts a repair; **F3** sells parts.

- **F5** focuses the search box on a list, or opens **Look up part** on a ticket screen.

- **F4** opens Finish. **F7** prints or opens the PDF, before or after Finish.

- **Ctrl+F4** saves and closes back to the customer page.

- **Ctrl+Del** opens Delete this ticket while unfinished, or Void invoice once invoiced.

- Finish, Receive, and the Void or Delete confirms still need a mouse click to submit, even though their own fields take typed input.
